Manipur bio-fertilizer
Addressing cultivators, the Chief Minister highlighted the governmentโ€™s push for natural farming and support for local MSMEs through technology transfer.

Imphal: Manipur has taken a monumental leap toward sustainable agriculture as Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated the cutting-edge Bioreactor Unit for Bio-Fertilizer Production at the CSIR-NEIST complex in Imphal on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering of eager cultivators, the Chief Minister underscored the governmentโ€™s robust drive to champion natural farming while empowering local MSMEs through advanced technology transfer.

The historic launch not only guarantees a major boost to indigenous bio-resource conservation but also paves the way for fresh skill development opportunities for the youth.

To transition smoothly into eco-friendly cultivation, the Agriculture Department and Green Biotech Ecosolution Private Limited will provide bio-fertilizers across 225 sangams of paddy fields.

The farmlands include 150 sangams in Imphal East, 50 sangams in Imphal West, and 25 sangams in Thoubal. These fields will use chemical fertilizers and bio-fertilizers in an optimized 75:25 ratio.

During the ongoing monsoon season, the state successfully distributed 93,472 bags of neem-coated urea at a highly subsidized rate of Rs 270 per bag. The special campaign covered 54 locations across all 16 districts.

Reaching out to fringe areas disrupted by law and order issues, special camps were set up in multiple locations to ensure that farmers have uninterrupted access to crucial urea and paddy seeds.

This comprehensive agricultural roadmap aligns with the state’s goal of reducing chemical use and strengthening the local agrarian economy through integrated, sustainable farming practices.
