Indo-Bangla Manipur CM extends wishes to Indian Football team for SAFF

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, a former footballer himself, has expressed his warmest wishes to the Under-20 Indian Football Team participating in the 6th edition of the SAFF U-20 Championship in Nepal.

The international football competition, organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), will take place from August 18 to 28.

In a social media post, CM Singh congratulated the 10 talented players from Manipur who have been selected for the Indian team, saying, “We are thrilled to see Manipuri footballers shining on the national stage.”

He also made a special mention of Ricky Meitei Haobam, who will lead the team as captain, and wished him and the entire team all the best for the championship.

CM Singh added, “May they bring glory to India and make Manipur proud! Best of luck, boys!”

The Indian team, which includes two players from Assam, is placed in Group B along with Maldives and Bhutan and will face Bhutan on August 19 in their first group clash.
