Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday congratulated state shuttler Meiraba Luwang for securing the third rank in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) junior ranking released recently.

Luwang has become the first shuttler from the north-eastern region to have achieved such a major feat.
In a tweet, N Biren stated:
‘Many many congratulations! We are proud of you Meiraba Luwang! You will become the World No.1, one day!’

Luwang had recently won the Bangladesh Junior International Series 2019 in Dhaka last month.
He also clinched the boys’ singles U-19 title at the Woncheon Yonex Korea Junior Open International Challenge 2019 in Korea in November 2018.
The shuttler also won the Russian Junior White Nights International Badminton Tournament 2019 in July last year.
Apart from bagging gold medals in three prestigious international tournaments, Luwang represented the country in a number of state, national and international events.
He also bagged six U-19 singles titles at national ranking events last year.
