Manipur CM meets President Murmu
The meeting marked Singhโ€™s first interaction with the President since he was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur on February 4, 2026.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and briefed her on the evolving situation in the state.

Sharing a photograph of the meeting on X, the Chief Minister said he had apprised the President of the developments in Manipur and the governmentโ€™s response.

โ€œBriefed Her Excellency on the evolving situation in Manipur and the coordinated response underway. Reiterated that unity, harmony, and peace remain our guiding principles,โ€ he wrote.

The meeting marked Singhโ€™s first interaction with the President since he was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur on February 4, 2026.

Earlier, on February 24, the Chief Minister Singh had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Ministerโ€™s Office in Seva Teerth, New Delhi, in his first meeting with the Prime Minister after assuming office.

In another post on X, the Chief Minister welcomed the Union Cabinetโ€™s approval of the revamped Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN, describing it as a major step towards improving connectivity and economic opportunities in remote regions.

Expressing gratitude to the Union Cabinet under the leadership of the Prime Minister, he said the approval of the scheme with an outlay of Rs 28,840 crore would strengthen regional air connectivity and accelerate development in underserved areas.

โ€œThis progressive initiative will further strengthen regional air connectivity, unlock new economic opportunities, and bring remote and underserved regions closer to the mainstream of development,โ€ he said.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, approved the launch and implementation of the modified Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme for a period of 10 years, from 2026-27 to 2035-36.

Under the scheme, the Centre plans to develop 100 airports and airstrips to improve regional connectivity.

According to an official statement, the modified UDAN scheme proposes to develop 100 airports from existing unserved airstrips in line with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision of infrastructure expansion and a globally competitive aviation ecosystem.

The statement said the airport development component would involve an outlay of Rs 12,159 crore over the next eight years.
