Private schools registered a higher pass percentage than government institutions.

Imphal: Girls outperformed boys in the Class 12 examinations 2026 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), which recorded an overall pass percentage of 92.23 per cent, according to results declared on Sunday.

Private schools registered a higher pass percentage than government institutions, though government higher secondary schools also posted a commendable performance, the data showed.

In the Science stream, Takhellambam Kalpana Devi of Comet School and Yohen Longjam of Comprehensive Concept School, Sangaiprou shared the top position with 490 marks each. Pebam Taibangnganba Mangang of Millennium Institute of Sciences, Sagolband secured second place with 485 marks, while Keithellakpam Wynona Devi of Comet School came third with 480 marks.

In the Arts stream, Sarangthem Ayingbi Chanu of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham topped with 486 marks. Pushpa Kakchingtabam of T.G. Higher Secondary School, Imphal secured second place with 456 marks, followed by Cheshabam Nurmiya of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School with 452 marks.

In the Commerce stream, Thoihenba Thongam of CC Higher Secondary School topped the list, while Haorangbam Deniya Chanu of Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School secured second position, Athokpam Danny of CC Higher Secondary School came third.

Among districts, Noney recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.93 per cent.

A total of 31,530 students appeared for the examination, which was held from February 17 to March 20 across 117 centres in the state.
