Manipur based civil society organizations (CSOs) called on Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju; BJP national president, Amit Shah; interlocutor for Naga talks, R N Ravi and others in Delhi to press for their demand to make public the contents of the ‘Framework Agreement’ signed between Government of India and NSCN (I-M) in August 2015.

The delegation led by United Committee Manipur president, Elangbam Johnson; All Manipur United Clubs’ Organization president, Ph Deban and Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak president, Jeetendra Ningomba made their stand clear that the people of Manipur would not accept any kind of agreement without their consent and particularly if the territorial integrity of the State was compromised.

The delegation also cautioned the Centre that it would be held responsible for any unwarranted eventuality that may arise if Manipur’s territorial integrity was infringed upon at a time of finalizing the solution to the Naga political problem.

R N Ravi reaffirmed that the State’s interest would be paramount and that the Centre will not compromise the territorial integrity of any state.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum to be handed over to the Prime Minister, which contained the demands and the recommendations of the people of Manipur.

Earlier, the delegation also met Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, CPI (M) national general secretary, Sitaram Yechuri; Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, NPP president, Conrad Sangma and others.

The delegation presently holed up in the national capital, have been holding series of meetings with several central leaders.

Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba on Friday categorically stated the territorial integrity of other states would not be disturbed while implementing the ‘Framework Agreement’ signed between Government of India and NSCN (I-M).

“I would like to point out that it has been already clarified even at the highest level of the Union Government that territorial integrity of none of the northeasters states will be disturbed because of the final solution to be reached with Naga group NSCN-IM in the light of the ‘framework of agreement’ signed with them by the Government of India,” Gauba said while talking to the media after he had chaired a security review meeting in the national capital on Friday.
