Imphal: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during an operation in the Gampijang ridges of Manipur‘s Kangpokpi district, an official statement said on Monday.

The operation was launched on Sunday morning based on intelligence input about the presence of arms in the area. A joint team of the 22 Assam Rifles, Saikul Post, and Kangpokpi police station carried out a cordon and search operation that lasted around two hours.

The recovered items include one AK-56 rifle with a magazine, one 303 rifle, two Chinese hand grenades, one country-made hand grenade, two improvised projectile launchers, one 12-inch SBBL gun, 10 live rounds of ammunition, and one Baofeng radio set.

No arrests were made during the operation.

The recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation.
