Imphal: In a significant move to support farmers impacted by the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur, the state cabinet, led by chief minister N Biren Singh, approved the release of the second phase of the compensatory crop package.
A total amount of Rs 1,33,04,314 has been sanctioned for 2072 affected farmers in Manipur.

Manipur minister S Ranjan Singh announced the decision, while stating that the state government is committed to providing relief to the agricultural sector.
Under the first phase of the compensatory package, 3483 farmers in Manipur received a total of Rs 18.37 crore.
The ministry of home affairs (MHA) had previously released Rs 38.6 crore for the compensatory package as proposed by the Manipur government.

According to a survey conducted by the Manipur agriculture department, agricultural activities in the state were disrupted on approximately 5127 hectares of land due to the unprecedented violence.

The first phase of distribution included 3483 farmers across various districts of Manipur:
- Imphal West: 199 farmers
- Imphal East: 360 farmers
- Bishnupur: 1031 farmers
- Thoubal: 25 farmers
- Jiribam: 51 farmers
- Chandel: 142 farmers
- Kangpokpi: 272 farmers
- Churachandpur: 1137 farmers
- Tengnoupal: 35 farmers
- Kakching: 231 farmers
Manipur minister Ranjan Singh stated that the state government has been putting in necessary efforts to provide assistance and support to the farming community in the state during these challenging times.
The release of the second phase of the compensatory crop package aims to alleviate the financial burden on farmers and help them resume their agricultural activities.
