Imphal: The Manipur Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, approved two key decisions on Wednesday, focusing on expanding dialysis facilities and revising compensation for land affected by power transmission projects.
Government spokesperson Dr Sapam Ranjan said the Cabinet approved the establishment of a 70-bed Manipur State Dialysis Centre at the State TB Hospital in Keirao, Imphal East.
The facility will operate under the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and is aimed at addressing the shortage of dialysis infrastructure and reducing waiting times for patients. Preliminary site assessments have already been completed.
The dialysis centre will be linked with the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and provide free treatment to beneficiaries of the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) scheme.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved a revised compensation framework for landowners affected by power transmission lines in accordance with the Government of India’s Right of Way (RoW) guidelines.
For externally aided or deposit-funded projects, including those supported by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and railway projects, landowners will receive compensation equivalent to 200% of the land value for tower bases and 30% for the transmission corridor.
For state-funded projects, compensation will be fixed at 100% of the land value for tower bases and 30% for the corridor area.
The Chief Minister said the Cabinet meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Art and Culture Minister Kh Loken Singh, Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur, administrative secretaries and other senior officials.
