Imphal: Manipur governor, Anusuiya Uikey, has officially summoned the 6th session of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly to convene on July 31.
This announcement was made in a notification issued by K Meghajit Singh, secretary of the Manipur legislative assembly.

In accordance with Clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, the Manipur governor has called the session to meet at 11:00 AM in the assembly hall, Imphal.
This decision aligns with the recommendation made by the Manipur cabinet, led by chief minister N Biren Singh, who decided on Friday (July 12) to convene the assembly session on the specified date.
The upcoming Manipur assembly session follows a boycott by ten Kuki-Zo legislators during the last assembly session.

These legislators are demanding the creation of a separate administration carved out from the state of Manipur.
The assembly session is expected to address various pressing issues, including those raised by the boycotting legislators, and other critical legislative business.
The number of sittings for the session will be determined by the business advisory committee of the Manipur legislative assembly.
The violence, which erupted between the Meitei and Kuki-Zomi communities in May last year following a “Tribal Solidarity March” in the hill districts protesting the Meitei community’s call for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, has resulted in at least 220 fatalities, 1500 injuries and displacement of around 60,000 people.
