Manipur: Assam Rifles seizes narcotics worth Rs 1.32 crore near Myanmar border

IMPHAL: Assam Rifles troopers in Manipur apprehended a 27-year-old drug trafficker and seized Brown Sugar valued at approximately Rs 1.32 crores in the international black market along the Manipur-Myanmar border.

During an area domination patrol conducted by Assam Rifles, a suspected individual carrying Brown Sugar was intercepted in Songdoi village of Churachandpur district in Manipur, bordering Myanmar on May 01.

The apprehended individual, identified as Nangzading (27), a resident of New Lamka under Churachandpur district of Manipur, was found in possession of 660 grams of Brown Sugar concealed in 50 soap cases.

The operation was carried out at Songdoi village in Churachandpur district of Manipur.

The estimated value of the seized Brown Sugar in the black market is approximately Rs 1.32 crore.

Subsequently, the suspect and the confiscated contraband were handed over to the Singhat police station on May 01, for further investigation and legal proceedings, according to officials.
