Guwahati: Manipur artist Sarungbam Nimai Singh from Yumnam Leikai, Imphal, has been chosen for the prestigious Lalit Kala Akademi Award at the 65th National Exhibition of Art.
Nimai Singh was among 20 artists selected from 6,175 entries submitted from across the country. His teak wood sculpture, titled ‘Mudra-1’, earned him the national recognition, highlighting his contribution to visual arts.
Congratulating the artist, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said the achievement was a matter of pride for Manipur and added to the state’s rich artistic heritage.
The Chief Minister also wished Nimai Singh continued success in his artistic career.
The award has brought national recognition to Manipur’s creative talent and underscores the contribution of artists from the state to India’s diverse visual arts landscape.
