The troops of Indian Army in a solemn ceremony bid final adieu to Manipur’s braveheart, Lungambui Abonmei.
The martyred soldier was laid to rest with full military honours at Leimakhong in Imphal West district of Manipur on Monday.

The brave soldier made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty along the LoC at Poonch Sector in Jammu and Kashmir on June 13.
Earlier on the day, the mortal remains of Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei were flown to Imphal from Delhi in an aircraft.
“Before being taken to Leimakhong, serving troops paid their respects to the martyr in a hallowed wreath-laying ceremony at Tulihal Airport,” said a defence statement.

At 5:40 pm on Monday, the cortege of the martyred soldier was paid last respects by the local military commanders from the Army as the buglers sounded the last post.
The Indian Tricolour was handed over to Elizabeth, the wife of late Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei in the presence of a host of relatives, friends and veterans of Leimakhong.
On Monday, while sharing an image of Lungambui Abonmei on his Twitter handle, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said: “Service to the nation with supreme sacrifice is the highest form of patriotism.”
“You left us for the comfort & safety of 130 crore Indians. The nation is proud of Sepoy Lungambui Abonmai (from Manipur). My deepest condolence with the bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace,” Singh said in his condolence message.

On Tuesday, while sharing a tweet by defence PRO on Lungambui Abonmai’s last journey, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu tweeted: “My heartfelt condolence is to the bereaved family members of martyr Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei of Leimakhong, Manipur who attained martyrdom on June 13 in Poonch, J&K.”
“His supreme sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered. May the departed soul rest in peace,” Khandu added.
