Imphal: Manipur police and central forces conducted cordon and search operations (CSOs) targeting different militant hideouts in four villages across Jiribam and Churachandpur.

The operations winded up with the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

However, no arrests were made during the operation.

Police added that acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition, the CSO was launched at Thangboipunjee, Narayanpur, and Champanagar villages in Jiribam district on Wednesday.

The operations successfully ended with recovering two double barrel 12 bore, one 2-inch mortar, 36 live barrel cartridges, and 5 empty barrel cartridges.

Another CSO was carried out at H Kotlian village in the Churachandpur district.

During the operation, one 3-0-3 rifle, one 9mm pistol, two modified pumpi, two long-range modified pumpi, several live rounds of ammunition, 16 blankets, 2 hats and a scarf were recovered.

The recovered articles were later handed over to the Manipur police.
