Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have recovered another huge haul of arms and ammunition during a search operation for two youths who were allegedly abducted by suspected militants.

According to reports, the haul included arms, ammunition and explosives.

They were recovered from the southern part on Sunday, the police said on Monday.

The police informed that the abducted youth were identified as Oinam Thoithoi and Thokchom Thoithoiba.

The central and state forces on Sunday intensified operations to rescue two kidnapped Meitei who were held hostage by militants while they were on their way to attend an army recruitment rally.

The operations were conducted at the interdistrict areas of Phousenpahi and Kwakta in the southern parts of Manipur.

The joint operation launched by the army, CRPF, and Manipur police led to the seizure of several weapons stores in the operations.

However, no arrests were made during the operation nor were the youths rescued.

The joint team recovered two sub machine guns along with a magazine, a single barrel gun, three 9mm pistols, one 40mm grenade, 50 blank rounds, 15 live ammunition rounds, and two pompis.

The seized items were handed over to the Manipur police.
