With 89 new cases including five from Central Armed Police Force, the total number of COVID-19 positive in Manipur has gone up to to 2,920 on Monday, official sources said.

However, there is no report of death due to COVID-19 from any part of the state on Monday.

“The numbers of active and recovered cases are 1147 and 1766 respectively,” Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of Health department said in a press release on Monday night.

“The cumulative number of deaths is seven. The recovery rate is 60.47 per cent,” the release stated.

The 84 persons (51 male, 33 female) from general population and five from CAPF, were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (67), District hospital Thoubal (16) and Babina diagnostic centre (6) in last 24 hours, the release said.

They belong to the districts of Imphal West (51), Thoubal (30), Bishnupur (1) and Ukhrul (2).

“4 persons (2 from Ukhrul and 2from Thoubal) are returnees from other states. The rest are locals without any significant travel history,” it added.

They are being shifted to COVID care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

In the past 24 hours, 29 persons were discharged from COVID care centres of Meitram (21), Senapati (2), Churachandpur (5) and NIELIT Churachandpur (1) after they were found COVID-19 free after RT PCR test, it said.
