Meghalaya Manipur: 14-year-old drowns during canoeing course in Loktak

Imphal: A 14-year-old boy drowned while participating in a canoeing and kayaking course at Takmu Pat, part of Loktak Lake in Manipur.

The deceased was identified as Moirangthem Rohit.

Rohit, a resident of Moirang Panshang Leikai had reportedly begun the course only 3-4 days prior.

During a training session at around 3 pm on Tuesday, he went missing.

His colleagues and others present immediately initiated a search and eventually located him.

Despite being rushed to the Community Health Centre, Moirang, in Bishnupur district, doctors declared Rohit dead at 4:30 pm.

The family has since claimed his body for last rites.
