A 12-year-old boy from Manipur became the youngest candidate to clear this years matriculation examination in Manipur.

Isaac Paulallungmuan Vaiphei from Churachandpur district scored 72 per cent in the Manipur Board class 10 examination 2020.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSEM) allowed him to appear for the Manipur HSLC examination in 2020 and terming it a ‘special case’ after his father wrote to the Education department seeking permission late last year.

As per the rules, a person appearing for the Manipur BSEM examination has to complete 15 years of age as on April 1 of the year that he or she appears for the class 10 board examination.

The permission was given after a psychological test was conducted on the boy by the Department of Clinical Psychology, RIMS Imphal, which revealed his mind to be extraordinary with an IQ of 141.

Isaac is an admirer of Sir Isaac Newton because he thinks he is like him and shares the first name as well.

The psychological test had shown that Isaac’s mental age was 17 years five months and he had superior intellectual and development functioning.

Isaac is the eldest among his siblings and studied in Mount Olive School till class VIII.
