The minor girl, who is a close relative of the convict, was taken from Silchar to Ukhrul in October 2015.

She was later admitted to Class III at a school in Ukhrul.

The police registered a case under the POCSO Act 2012 against Babul Kol after the victim filed an FIR at Ukhrul’s woman police station stating the ordeal.

After investigation, the police submitted a chargesheet before the court against the rapist and the court on Saturday announced the sentence.
