The flood situation in Assam has anguished Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh as the death toll has increased to 18.

Till date, over 9.26 lakh people have been affected by floods in Assam.

โ€œDeeply anguished by the loss of lives in Assam due to flood,โ€ Manipur chief minister N Biren tweeted on Sunday.

He also expressed his sympathy towards the families and friends of Assam flood victims.

โ€œOn behalf of Manipur, I extend my deepest sympathy to the families & friends who lost their loved ones,โ€ the Manipur CM said.

โ€œOur prayers and thoughts are with everyone who has been affected,โ€ he added.

According to the latest Assam Disaster management Authority (ASDMA) flood report, a total of 23 districts in Assam have been affected by floods.

A total of 2,071 villages/localities have been submerged by flood waters across the state.

Barpeta is the worst affected district where a total of 395 villages have been affected, followed by Dhemaji district where 265 villages have been affected by floods.

The authorities have set up a total of 193 relief camps across Assam which have housed 27,308 inmates.
