Imphal: A delegation from Japanโ€™s Kagawa Prefectural Assembly is visiting Manipur to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with a focus on human resource development and sectoral collaboration.

The Kagawa Prefectural Assembly serves as the legislative body for Kagawa Prefecture in Japan.

During the visit, the delegation met with Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel and the Secretary of Skills, Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Government of Manipur.

A separate meeting was held at the Old Secretariat, Babupara in Imphal on Friday, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary (Trade, Commerce and Industries) Anurag Bajpai and attended by senior state officials. The discussions provided a platform to explore areas of mutual interest and collaboration between Manipur and Kagawa Prefecture.

The head of the Kagawa delegation delivered a presentation on the prefecture, showcasing its socio-economic profile, industrial strengths, and increasing engagement with foreign human resources.

The delegation shared details about foreign workforce acceptance in Kagawa Prefecture and expressed interest in collaborating with Manipur to meet labor needs in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, construction, manufacturing, trade, hospitality, and social welfare, with a special focus on nursing care.

Given the growing demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers, the Japanese delegation emphasized its willingness to explore structured and mutually beneficial pathways for engagement.

Officials from the Government of Manipur, including representatives from Trade, Commerce and Industries, Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, Forest, and related departments, participated in the discussions, highlighting Manipurโ€™s capabilities and potential in human resource development, particularly in nursing and healthcare.

The visit is seen as a significant step toward enhancing international cooperation, creating new opportunities for employment, skill development, and institutional partnerships between Manipur and Kagawa Prefecture.

The delegates expressed confidence that the talks would result in lasting cooperation and concrete outcomes soon.
