Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Major General, KP Singh accompanied by President of Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association, Rachna Singh called on Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla on Monday.

The General Officer who is the head of Assam Rifles in Manipur conveyed his warm greetings to the Governor on the occasion of Lohri and Makar Sakranti, it said.

During the meeting the General Officer discussed the security and law and order situation in the state and assured the Governor Dr Heptulla of Assam Rifle’s commitment to working towards bringing lasting peace in the region.

In another development, the 3rd phase of Medicare for Women was conducted in Phungcham village of Ukhrul district by Somsai Battalion on January 14.

More than 300 civilians including ladies were treated and free medicines were distributed to the needy patients, the release of the Assam Rifles added.

The aim of this initiative is to provide free medical treatment and consultation to the villagers where requisite medical facilities are not yet available due to remoteness of the area.

This initiative of Assam Rifles has found immense appreciation among the people. Somsai Battalion will continue to organize similar public health events in remote villages of Ukhrul district, it added.
