The 48th Koren (Koireng) Youth Organization (KYO), Manipur general conference cum cultural & sports meet, 2020 was held at Ngairong Village in Churachandpur on Tuesday.
Works and rural development minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, Kshetrigao MLA Nahakpam Indrajit and functionaries of the KYO were present during the opening session of the five-day general conference cum cultural meet.

Speaking at the opening session of the function, minister Biswajit said the culture is ‘our identity’.
He added the Centre today recognizes India cannot be called developed unless all states including Manipur are developed.
He said the government of Manipur also understands that Manipur cannot be called developed unless the entire State is developed.

He expressed the need to protect, preserve and maintain the culture, tradition and customs of all communities residing in the State.
Stressing the need to spread industrialization across the State in his speech, the minister who also holds the information and public relations portfolio assured development of the area.
Today, human resource has become the most important resource in bringing development to a society, he stated.
In his message for youth, he said that the youth of the community should understand that they alone can bring development to their community through active participation, determination and will power to do better.
Anyone can do good for the society without even joining politics, he added.
Reacting to memorandums which focused on inclusion of the Koireng Tribe in the endangered lists, and other local infrastructure development submitted during the programme, the visiting minister also assured that the matter will be looked into it.
The general conference cum cultural & sports meet will continue till January 18.
