The 7th Foundation Day of Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) was held under the theme “Revisiting and Exploring more for Justice to Children,” at its office complex located at the old high court complex at North AOC, Imphal on Monday.
Addressing the gatherings, Manipur Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen highlighted the importance of the commission in protecting, promoting, constant monitoring of the basic fundamental rights of the child, generating mass awareness regarding child rights laws and many more welfare programmes and activities for the children of the state.
Nemcha urged all the stakeholders including state agency, police department, court, schools, private institutions, individuals to comply with the directives and recommendations of MCPCR as it is a constitutional body.
Assuring that every possible assistance and intervention will be extended from her ends if needs arises, the social welfare minister hailed the commission for selflessly working with an objective that no child should be denied of their basic fundamental rights.
She believes that the commission will continue its exceptional services in the long run too.
It may be mentioned that Dr Meinam Binota Devi has been appointed chairperson of MSWC following an official order issued on October 25 by the Social Welfare Deputy Secretary Gangmei Ganguilu. The term of the chairperson would be three years as laid down in Section 4(1) of the Manipur State Commission for Women Act 2006.
