Former MLA AS Arthur passes away
A.S. Arthur served as the Minister for Forest and General Administration from 1994 to 1997.

Imphal: Manipurโ€™s former MLA A.S. Arthur, who represented the 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, died after a prolonged illness on Saturday morning at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi.

A.S. Arthur served as the Minister for Forest and General Administration from 1994 to 1997. He was the father of Alfred Kanngam Arthur, the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and a Congress leader.

A condolence service for the deceased will be held today at 7:00 PM at Dwaar Centre in Safdarjung, Delhi.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, in a statement, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of A.S. Arthur. โ€œHis unwavering dedication to the people of Manipur and his commitment to the progress of our state will forever be remembered,โ€ he said.

In this moment of grief, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to Arthurโ€™s family, loved ones, and all who cherished him. He stated, โ€œMay his soul rest in eternal peace.โ€
