Troops of Assam Rifles stationed in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar has recovered contraband drugs worth more than Rs two crores.
The seizure was made at Mobile Vehicle Check Post in Tengnoupal located about 100 km south of Imphal.

This was stated in a press release issued by the Assam Rifles.
“On November 22, during a routine search at vehicle check post, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a suspicious white Maruti Alto Car driven by one H Jangkhongam Mate of Kangpokpi District,” said public relations officer of Assam Rifles(South) in the press release issued in Imphal on Sunday night.
“After a thorough check of the vehicle, the team recovered 50 packets of heroin weighing approximately 641 gm valued at more than Rs two crores,” it added.

The apprehended individual and the recovered items have been handed over to the police station at Tengnoupal for further investigation, the release stated.
There are also frequent reports of seizing various contraband drugs from the drug transporters by Assam Rifles troops deployed along the Imphal-Moreh route while checking the vehicles passing through the Khudengthabi Assam Rifles check post in Manipur.
