Donations for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the flood victims in Manipur are still coming in from different quarters.

The Bona-fide New Bidders for LPG Bullet Tankers (2018) Manipur donated a sum of Rs 1 lakh to CMRF to help the flood victims in the recent spate of flood occurred in different parts of the State.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed his profound gratitude towards the donors for their generosity to help the flood-affected people.

The recent flood in Manipur has affected about 1.92 lakh population in 360 villages under nine districts out of the State’s 16 districts.

The flood has claimed seven lives, according to the State Department of Relief and Disaster Management. The flood has also damaged 24,849 houses while many people are still taking shelter in several relief camps.

On Saturday, teaching staff and doctors of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (RIMS) contributed Rs 13,66,279; Thongam Romen Singh, a resident of Heinoubok Nambol in Bishnupur district donated Rs 63,900; All Manipur Judicial Officers Association, Manipur donated Rs 1 lakh and the employees of Manipur State Co-operative Bank Ltd donated Rs 1 lakh.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund received a total of Rs 1.80 lakh from three different groups.

The North Eastern Social and Economic Empowerment, Guwahati and Ibudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup donated Rs 1 lakh and Rs 30,000 respectively.

Likewise, Four Aided Colleges Teachers’ Association (FACTA), which is a joint teachers’ body of S Kula Women’s College, Nambol; Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Thoubal; South East Manipur College, Komlathabi and Moreh College donated Rs 50,000.

All the amounts were personally handed over to Chief Minister N Biren Singh by the representatives of the different bodies at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
