A 20-minute documentary film on “Wetlands of Manipur” was released in Imphal on Friday.
The film focused on the major wetlands of Manipur both in hills and valley region namely Loktak, Zaimeng, Zeilad, Pumlen, Ikop, Waithou, Lamjao, Karung Pat and Yaral Pat.

It was produced by State forest department under Nature Learning Centre, National Mission on Himalayan Studies, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change
The film also highlighted the present conditions of the wetland, role played by the wetlands in maintaining the ecosystem equilibrium and supporting livelihood, bio-diversity and threats being faced by the wetlands.
The film also emphasized the socio-cultural relationship of wetlands with the Manipuri society.

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, additional chief secretary (Forest) Dr Suhel Akhtar, principal chief conservator of forest Kereilhouvi Angami, additional principal chief conservator of forest Anurag Bajpai and other top officials were present at the launch function.
