COVID19 positive

With detection of 28 new positive cases, the COVID19 tally in Manipur touched the 1,700-mark on Wednesday while the total active cases stood at 620.

In the last 24 hours, 28 COVID19 positive cases, including 19 male and 9 female, were confirmed.

The positive cases were detected at the Viral Research and Diagnosis Laboratories of RIMS (27) and SDH Lab Jiribam (1), said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar, additional director and spokesperson of the health department.

The infected patients are from the districts of Imphal West (10), Jiribam (1), Kakching (1), Kamjong (4), Tamengong (1) and Thoubal (11), Dr Sasheekumar said in a statement.

All the patients except 4 persons, including a GP Pradhan, a GP member, a security guard and a volunteer from Thoubal district, are returnees from other states, the statement said.

In the past last hours, 60 persons have been discharged from various Covid Care Centres at Meitram (244), RD Wing, health directorate (7), Bishnupur (7), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (7) and Covid care facilities of RIMS (10) and JNIMS (1).

Stating that the four COVID19 confirmed cases in the Thoubal district have a history of exposure to known local risk factors, the statement said there is no evidence of community transmission in the district.

With the latest development, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state is 1,700.

The total number of active and recovered cases are 620 and 1080 respectively.

According to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of integrated disease surveillance programme, Manipur, altogether 3,04,342 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 658,660 samples have been tested for COVID19.
