After notifying several regions of Thoubal district as containment zones to prevent the spread of COVID19, the Manipur government has imposed complete lockdown in the district till July 27.
The state chief secretary, who is also the chairperson of the state executive committee of the Manipur State Disaster Management Authority, on Tuesday issued an order in this regard.
As per the new government order, only the personnel of essential services permitted by the deputy commissioner, Thoubal, will be allowed besides the inter-district movement through the district has been restricted.
The Thoubal deputy commissioner has issued a notification in connection with the imposition of the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 in the district.
Earlier, the deputy commissioner of the district directed to close all the main markets within Thoubal district with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, updating his social media post, state chief minister N Biren Singh on his Facebook account said: “To prevent from further spreading of COVID-19, Thoubal district will be under total lockdown. Curfew will be imposed in the entire district.”
In the past 24 hours, 90 new Covid19 cases were reported from the two testing laboratories and other facilities at Jiribam, Thoubal and mobile testing team of Imphal West district, taking state’s total tally to 2,015.
In the last 24 hours, 64 persons were discharged from COVID care centres at Meitram in Imphal West,Senapati, Tamenglong, Thoubal, Ukhrul and COVID care facilities in Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences after they tested negative for COVID19 in RT PCR test.
The cumulative number of positive cases in the state is 2,015.
The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 631 and 1384 respectively, it said. The recovery rate is 68.68 percent.
