With 248 new COVID-19 positive cases, the total number positive cases in Manipur increased to 10,299 on Sunday, official sources said.

In the past 24 hours, 180 persons from the general population and 68 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were confirmed positive, said a health official.

The new positive cases were confirmed at 20 testing facilities in the State.

The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West(105), Imphal East (35), Ukhrul (4), Chandel (7), Thoubal (9), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (4), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (1), Kamjong (1), Senapati (1), Jiribam (1) and Tamenglong (3), he said.

Five persons out of the general population are returnees from other States, while the rest 175 are local residents without any significant travel history.

In the past 24 hours, 195 persons were also discharged from eight COVID care facilities including RIMS, JNIMS and district hospital Chandel after they were found negative.

The numbers of active and recovered cases are 2,359 and 7,876 respectively. The recovery rate is 76.47 per cent in Manipur.

There is no report of death due to COVID 19 on Sunday, he added. The cumulative number of deaths is 64.
