The COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur increased to 1,450 on Thursday, said officials.

In the last 24 hours, 15 persons (5 males and 10 females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases at the viral research and diagnosis laboratories of RIMS (1), JNIMS (10) and testing centre district hospital, Jiribam (4), Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, spokesperson of health department said in a statement.

The positive persons belong to Bishnupur (1), Churachandpur (8), Imphal East (1), Jiribam (4) and Tamenglong (1), the press release said.

They will be shifted to respective COVID care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Six persons were discharged from COVID-care centres of Meitram (4), Ukhrul (1) and Kasom Khullen (1) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test in the past twenty four hours.

With this the state’s Covid-19 recovered cases surpassed the number of active cases for the sixth day on Thursday.

On the other hand, a total of 2, 97,358 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 59,740 others were tested for COVID-19, report said.

Altogether 4,787 inmates were staying at quarantine centres including paid quarantine centres while 52,069 others completed quarantine.
