With 125 new recoveries reported from eight COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours in the state, the recovery rate of Manipur climbed to 73.13 per cent on Friday.

So far, 4,899 persons out of the total 6,699 COVID 19 positive cases have recovered and been discharged from various COVID care centres in the State.

The COVID 19 Common Control Room in Imphal in a press release on Friday said that the cumulative number of positive cases is 6,699 adding the cumulative number of recovered cases is 4,899.

The number of active cases is 1,765803.

“The recovery rate is 73.13 per cent,” the release said.

Stating that 66 persons including 27 females from the general population and 24 from the Central Armed Police Forces were confirmed positive in the past 24 hours in Manipur, the release added that they are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Jiribam, Kakching, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul.

All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities, the release stated.

In the last 24 hours, two males and one female aged 60 yrs(Imphal East),39yrs(Imphal East) and 56 yrs (Thoubal) expired at Shija, JNIMS and Shija respectively from COVID-19 and other co-morbid conditions, the release said. The cumulative number of deaths is 35.

Meanwhile, an intensive awareness campaign on COVID-19 has been started from Tuesday onwards in and around the state capital in collaboration with the people’s task force and Indian Red Cross Society  Manipur branch.
