Jail inmates in Punjab tests COVID-19 positive

With 117 new cases in the past 24 hours, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur rose to 5,960, state health services officials said on Saturday.

Informing this, the COVID-19 Common Control Room in an official press release on Saturday evening said that the cumulative number of positive cases is 5,960 while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 4,186.

The number of active cases is 1,746.

In the past 24 hours, 87 persons including 54 males and 33 females from the general population and 30 from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed positive in the state.

They are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Noney, Bishnupur, Chandel and Churachandpur.

Four persons out of the general population are returnees from other States, while the rest 83 are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to COVID care facilities, it further added.

Meanwhile with one more death, the cumulative number of deaths due to COVID 19 and other co-morbid health conditions in the state rise to 28.

On the other hand with 129 new recovered cases in the past 24 hours, so far altogether 4,186 persons out of the state’s total COVID 19 positive cases (5,960) have recovered and discharged from various COVID care facilities in the state, the release said.

Thus the recovery rate increases to 70.23 per cent again on Saturday.

So far a total of 3,43,335 persons were screened at various entry points of the State, while 1,49,155 individuals were tested for COVID-19 in the State, official sources said.
