A total of 198 local residents without any significant travel history tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Manipur.

Among the new patients, 101 are females from the general population and seven patients were personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

The new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed at 23 testing facilities in the state.

They are reported from Imphal West (93), Imphal East (27), Thoubal (27), Jiribam (3), Chandel (1), Kangpokpi (7), Bishnupur (16), Senapati (4), Kakching (2), Tamenglong (10) and Churachandpur (7).

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Moreover, 212 persons were discharged from 20 COVID care facilities in Manipur on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the state reported six more deaths including one female due to COVID-19 taking the state’s overall tally to 156.

The state so far has reported 17,809 cases while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 4,233 and 13,420 respectively.

The recovery rate is 75.35 per cent.
