Communication and unity key to overcome adversities: Biren

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said proper communication and unity is needed among the states of the North-east to overcome any obstacle faced by any state of the region.

Chief Minister Biren was speaking at the inauguration of six grid connected rooftop solar power plants (400 kw) at different government buildings held at City Convention, Imphal on Tuesday.

The six grid connected rooftop solar power plants are installed at City Convention Centre (100 kw), National Sports Academy (100 kw), Inter State Bus Terminus (100 kw), Secured Office Complex (25 kw), Manipur State Film Development Society (25 KW) and Manipur State Kala Academy (50KW).

He said the primary objective of the present government is to deliver citizen centric governance to solve the problems faced by the people at grassroots in the State.

He added that in such short period of time, the government could able to inaugurate the six numbers of grid connected rooftop solar power plants of 400 KW in the State. He said the government is planning to electrify the remaining un-electrified villages (about 50) by the end of this month.

Regarding the availability of helicopter services in the State, the Chief Minister said that a formal order would be issued by the Home Ministry within this week.

On the issue of water scarcity in the hill districts, he said that the government is setting up rain water harvesting schemes in the hill districts. A mass tree plantation campaign would be initiated in the hill districts by April next, he added.

Three women’s markets in Ukhrul, Jiribam and Churachandpur would also be inaugurated within this month.

Regarding the Government’s campaign against the menace of drug abuse, he informed that more than 1000 acres of land where illegal poppy plantation takes place have been destroyed.

Alternative livelihood including soft loans would be provided to those affected farmers, he added.

In his address, State Minister for Power,Th Biswajit  Singh said that there would be improvement in every sector including road and power sector in the State.

He also encouraged the people of the State to install such rooftop solar panels/system at their homes and local clubs.

He said that people’s support and encouragement is needed to bring development in the State.

State Minister for PHE, Losii Dikho; Chairman, MANIREDA Ginsaunhau; MLAs Th Satyabrata Singh,  H Dingo, P Brojen, O Lukhoi, Y Surchandra, Khasim Vashum, N Indrajit; Chief Secretary  R R Rashmi, secretary to Chief Minister N Ashok Kumar; officials of MANIREDA, MSPDCL and others attended the day’s function.
