The Centre on Friday launched a toll free helpline number exclusively for the people of the Northeast which would be answered from the Central Control Room in the North Block in New Delhi.
The helpline number for the people of the Northeast is 1944.

Moreover, the Centre has also launched a toll free helpline number for people of other states/union territories too which would also be answered from the Central Control Room. This helpline number is 1930.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh appreciated the central government’s move to introduce the toll free helpline numbers.
“Thanks Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji and his government for launching toll free helpline numbers that would be answered from the Central Control Room in the North Block in New Delhi. Really needs of the hours. 1930 – For all citizens. 1944 – For the North East residents,” he tweeted.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had also recently launched a helpline number 9650530531 for the people of the northeast who are currently residing in Delhi.
The helpline, which is operated entirely by RSS volunteers from the northeast, has been receiving calls from people of the northeast asking help for their relatives stranded in Delhi amidst the nationwide lockdown period.
