Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has exuded confidence that the BJP will form government in Manipur on its own.
Manipur will go to Assembly elections in the next couple of months.
Sarma was responding to a query on the political scenario in the Northeast while interacting with senior journalists from Assam.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “is here to stay in the Northeast”.
Notably, all the eight Northeast states are either ruled by the BJP or its regional allies.
He also exuded confidence on BJP retaining power in Tripura, which will go to polls in 2023.
Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that the BJP will see growth in the states of Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
