Assam Rifles troops deployed in Manipur nabbed a People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from Thoubal district. along with a pistol and ammunition.
The paramilitary force personnel apprehended the militant during an operation carried out on August 27, 2021.
The operation was carried out by the Keithelmanbi Battalion of Assam Rifles, jointly with Manipur Police.
During the operation, the joint team was able to recover one 9 mm pistol along with magazine and five rounds of ammunition from Yairipok village in Thoubal district.
“Keithelmanbi Battalion Assam Rifles, on 27 Aug, in a joint operation with Police apprehended an active insurgent of PREPAK & recovered one 9 mm pistol with magazine & five rounds from Yairipok Village, Thoubal District, Manipur,” Assam Rifles wrote on its Twitter handle.
Assam Rifles in an earlier tweet on August 28 tweeted that the Keithelmanbi & Mantripukhri Battalions of the security force in two separate operations apprehended two active insurgents of PREPAK & UNLF respectively in Imphal West district on August 26.
On July 12, 2021, in a major breakthrough, troops of Assam Rifles nabbed two active militants belonging to People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and People’s Liberation of Army (PLA) in two separate operations in Manipur.
PREPAK and PLA are banned militant organisations based in Manipur.
As per an official report, troops of Keithelmanbi and Chassad Battalions under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended the militants from Imphal West and Kamjong districts of Manipur, respectively.
