The Director General (DG) of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Sukhdeep Sangwan visited the Head Quarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) in the outskirt of Manipur capital Imphal on Wednesday, according to a press release.
On his arrival, the DG was briefed on prevailing security situation by the head of Assam rifles in Manipur – Major General K P Singh, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
“DG reviewed the operational preparedness of the formation and appreciated the efforts of security Forces,” said PRO Assam Rifles(South) in the press release.
“The General Officer also visited forward company operating base and interacted with Commanders and troops and reviewed the security posture of Assam Rifles.”
Complimenting the troops for their perseverance and high morale, he also appreciated the effort done by all ranks of IGAR (South) in maintaining the security in the state of Manipur.
“In challenging times of COVID-19, the DGAR was also briefed about OP NAMASTE and efforts being done for force preservation and COVID-19 preparedness of Assam Rifles in Manipur,” it stated.
DG Assam Rifles also took part in a tree plantation drive conducted by Mantripukhri battalion inside the garrison.
Assam Rifles in an initiative of ‘Go Green’ has already planted more than 80,000 trees this year at various locations of Manipur, it said.
The General officer directed to continuously review progress of Assam Rifles security preparedness and complimented the force for taking adequate measures in maintaining zero COVID-19 positive case and ensuring force preservation.
