“Prime Minister Modi will avoid Manipur, misuse law enforcement agencies and try to bend the Indian constitution,” he added.
The Assam Congress MP further stated: “Thankfully the people have chosen the INDIA alliance to speak up on its behalf and defend the Indian Parliament and the constitution.”
It may be mentioned here that the conflict in Manipur, which erupted on May 03 last year following a “Tribal Solidarity March” organized in the hill districts to protest the majority Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, resulted in the deaths of over 200 people.
The violence has been primarily between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur.
