It was also reported that PM Modi had positively considered the Chief Minister’s resignation and that Biren Singh had decided to step down due to mounting pressure from his party colleagues.
The report further claimed that on October 15, after a meeting with Manipur Speaker Th Satyabrata, the 19 dissenting MLAs formally requested the Prime Minister to remove Singh from his post.
They submitted a memorandum demanding his ouster, sparking widespread speculation about his possible resignation following consultations with the Prime Minister.
However, Singh has categorically dismissed these claims, affirming that he remains focused on his duties as Chief Minister.
