Imphal: A museum dedicated to Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing, a Naga leader from Manipur, was inaugurated at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
The museum, named the Museum of Valour, honors the sacrifices of the martyr.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended the inauguration ceremony, which was presided over by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Biren Singh expressed his appreciation for Arunachal Pradesh recognizing and acknowledging the contributions of Major Bob Khathing.
He said that the Government of Manipur also honors the martyr’s sacrifices and has allocated Rs 3 crore for the construction of a memorial. However, the project has been delayed due to elections and the ongoing situation in the state.
Chief Minister Singh highlighted Major Bob Khathing’s pivotal role in asserting India’s claim over Tawang when the Chinese claimed the region.
He led his soldiers and hoisted the Indian flag, solidifying Tawang’s position as an integral part of India.
Biren Singh further lauded Major Bob Khathing as a visionary leader whose sacrifices should be remembered and celebrated.
He noted that Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to the martyr’s bravery and sacrifices during his speech at the inauguration ceremony.
