An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale hit Chandel district in Manipur at 7:27 pm on Tuesday.
According to National Center for Seismology, the epicentre of the quake was 43 km southwest of Moirang, according to the NCS. The earthquake hit at a depth of more than 15 kilometres.
No loss to property and lives reported till the time of filing this report.
An earthquake of moderate intensity had hit Manipur on June 21, 2020. The epicentre of the quake was located 9 km from Ngopa area of neighbouring Mizoram.
Another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale had struck near Champhai in Mizoram on July 24.
As per the data provided by the New Delhi-based National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake’s epicentre was located 29 km southeast of Champhai.
