With the expiry of three more persons, including a female, the COVID19 death toll and co-morbid health conditions in Manipur increased to 51 in the last 24 hours.

“In the last 24 hours, two males (both aged 63, Imphal East and Thoubal) and one female (38 yrs from Thoubal) expired at JNIMS (2) and RIMS (1)respectively,” said COVID19 Common Control Room, Imphal in its daily bulletin issued on Thursday.

“The cumulative number of deaths is 51,” it said.

Manipur reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29 while the first COVID19 positive case was detected on March 24.

Meanwhile, 110 persons (75 male 35 female) from the general population were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases in the past 24 hours, the bulletin said.

The infected patients are from 9 districts of the state, it said.

Six persons, out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 104 are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, it added.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

A total of 18 other persons were discharged from six COVID care facilities across the state after they were found COVID19 free during RT-PCR test in the past 24 hours, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 8,430 while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,539, it added.

The number of active cases is 1,840. The recovery rate is 77.56%.

As of Thursday, 3,66,986 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 2,01,670 samples were tested for COVID19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme.
