Songashim Rungsung from Manipur has won the Rubaru Mr India-United Continents title at the Rubaru Mr India 2020-2021 pageant held in Goa.
Rubaru Mr India is the country’s biggest annual pageant for men.
25-year-old Songashim, a native of Talui village in Manipur’s UKhrul district bagged the prestigious title at the pagent held in Goa on Thursday.
Songashim, who belongs to Tangkhul Naga community, will now represent India at the Mr United Continents event to be held later this year.
“I believe in myself and I don’t really care about winning or losing in this competition. But what I cared about is no matter what, I will give my best,” he said.
Besides the title, Songashim, an alumnus of St Joseph College in Bengaluru, also bagged the sub-title for the ‘best national costume’ as he gladly showcased his own Tangkhul Naga traditional attire at the event.
“It is definitely a proud moment because, through his platform, so many people from across the world came to know about our rich Tangkhul tradition,” an elated Songashim told reporters.
Currently based in Bengaluru as a freelance model, Songashim started off his journey into the glamour world in 2018 when he first participated at Mega Northeast.
He was selected among the top 10 finalists.
