The Covid-19 positive cases in Manipur have reached 1,582 with 132 new cases reported in the state on Friday.

The state health department in a press release said that 132 persons including 82 males and 50 females were confirmed as new COVID 19 cases at the viral research and diagnosis laboratories of RIMS (124), JNIMS (5) and testing centre district hospital, Jiribam (3).

So far the state reported a total of 1,582 positive cases out of which 832 have recovered and been discharged while the number of active cases stands at 750.

The recovery rate is 52.59 percent.

The positive persons belong to the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Tamenglong, Thoubal, Senapati and Ukhrul, the press release said.

“They will be shifted to respective COVID care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” it added.

In the past twenty four hours, 33 persons were discharged from COVID Care Centres of Meitram (15), Senapati (6) and Ukhrul (12) after they were found COVID 19 free on RT PCR test,it added.

“Yesterday, a lady doctor of JNIMS and today, a hospital orderly of RIMS had been confirmed as COVID 19 positive cases,” the release stated.

Three health workers of the Bishnupur district hospital have already discharged after recovery during their treatment at a COVID care centre recently.

So far a total of 2,98,636 persons were screened at various entry points of the state, according to a report released by the state surveillance officer of integrated disease surveillance programme, Manipur on Friday evening.
