IMPHAL: A total of 13, 274 structures were destroyed and gutted in the ongoing violence that started on May 3, 2023, between two communities in Manipur.
Assessment and identification of structures damaged or destroyed is still ongoing in various districts of the state.

This was stated by the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh in reply to a query posed by the opposition Congress MLA Surjakumar Okram in the state assembly on Thursday.
Regarding compensation, disbursement of partial compensation in the form of permanent housing for those who are ready to move back to their original places after proper verification under the scheme of permanent housing has started N Biren Singh.
For the construction of houses, a fifty percent advance of the compensation has been released to 139 families. Sanction has also been issued for disbursement of the same to another 472 families, he added.

Chief Minister said that the Government had sanctioned Rs 15 crore for disbursement of twenty-five percent advance (Rs. 25,000/-) of the interim relief (Rs. 1 lakh per family) for those whose home had been completely burnt down/damaged. Identification of beneficiaries and account verification is going on by the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts.
Replying to a query raised by opposition Congress MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh, Chief Minister informed the House that the Prefabricated temporary houses, in different areas of the state, were built under the Special Package approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The Prefabricated houses built at Sajiwa and Sawombung cost Rs 9.98 crore for each of the sites for 200 families.
Regarding the structural inconveniences faced by the families in the prefabricated houses, the Chief Minister assured the House that the necessary steps to improve the structures of the prefabricated houses and surroundings will be taken up before the monsoon season.
