One more positive patient expired due to COVID19 in Manipur in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 68.

In the last 24 hours, one male, aged 50 years (Thoubal) expired at JNIMS, stated COVID 19 Common Control Room in Imphal said a press release on Thursday.

The cumulative number of deaths is 68, it stated.

A total of 112 persons including 61 males and 50 females from the general population and 16 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, the release said.

The positive cases were detected in 18 COVID testing facilities including RIMS.

The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West (40), Imphal East (13), Senapati (2), Jiribam (2), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (1), Churachandpur (4), Tamenglong (18), Ukhrul (4), Chandel (1), Thoubal (5), Kakching (2) and Bishnupur (4) districts, it added.

Seven persons from Imphal East are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the release said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Meanwhile, 181 persons were discharged from 12 COVID care facilities after they were found COVID19 free on RT -PCR test in the last 24 hours, the release said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 11,111 while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 8,641, it added.

The number of active cases is 2,402.

The recovery rate is 77.76%.
