With 141 new cases, the total number of COVID19 positive cases in Manipur has risen to 5,585 on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases in Manipur stands at 1,731, official sources said.

In the past 24 hours, 116 persons from the general population and 25 from the central armed police force (CAPF) were confirmed positive, Covid19 common control room said in a press release.

The infected patients are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Kakching, Senapati, Noney and Kangpokpi, the release said.

Two persons from Noney, out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 114 are locals without any significant travel history.

The infected patients have been shifted to COVID care facilities.

In the last 24 hours, a 65-year-old woman from Imphal West died of COVID19 infection at the JNIMS, the release said.

Manipur reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29.

In the last 24 hours, 17 persons were discharged, it stated.

The recovered patients were from CAPF, RIMS and RD Wing in the state.

The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 3,829.

The number of active cases is 1,731.

The recovery rate is 68.55 per cent, the release added.

As of Wednesday, a total of 3,40,404 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 1,40,610 individuals were tested for COVID19 at various testing centres in the state, the latest Integrated Disease Surveillance Program status update report on COVID19 said.
